Embryo adoption to become parents

  1.  Halcyon Woman

Hello, I’m 35 years old and as I don’t ovulate embryo adoption is the best choice for me. I’m starting now this wild adventure but I can’t wait to fulfill my dream! If all results of my tests and all that stuff are right, my ET due date will be in May. I’ve chosen a private facility so I’d like to hear similar stories, experiences, etc. Specialists at my clinic say I’ve a 50/50 chance of getting pregnant but the problem is I don’t have more money to go for a 2nd cycle in case this one fails. I’ve even borrowed money for this one, so I don’t want to think about the consequences if I don’t get pregnant now. How likely I am to succeed on the 1st try?

    Hello Halcyon Woman,

Chances of getting pregnant via embryo donation and adoption depend on a number of factors, so I’m afraid I cannot predict with certainty if you’ll get pregnant or not with this method.

Some factors that have an influence are:

    1. Origin of the gametes that gave raise to the embryo (if they were created with donor gametes or from the embryos of the infertile couple).
    2. Embryo post thawing quality (in general, fresh cycles are not done when donated embryos are used).
    3. Uterine status of the prospective mother, that is, characteristics of your uterine cavity as regards embryo transfer and implantation.

I am sorry I cannot give you precise figures. I hope everything is wonderful and you achieve your dream of being a mother!

    Best regards
