Types of in vitro fertilization available today

There exist two types of IVF: classical or conventional IVF, and ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection). The only difference between them is how fertilization takes place in the lab.

In the case of classical IVF, egg and sperm are placed in the same plate at the lab so that fertilization occurs as it would naturally. Inversely, in ICSI, a previously selected sperm is injected manually inside the egg.
