Pregnancy does not worsen the prognosis of survival when cancer is diagnosed. Suffering from cancer during pregnancy is unlikely, however, it’s estimated that 120 cases of cancer in pregnant women are diagnosed in Spain every year. Its frequency may increase when mothers are older and with the apparition of tumours in childbearing age.
There’s not much experience in this field but the support of gynaecologists, oncologists and psychologists and other specialists is needed to face this illness in pregnant women.
