Embryo biopsy consists of extracting several cells from the embryo in order to analyze them genetically and assess whether they are healthy embryos or not.
Some years ago, most specialists performed embryo biopsy on day 3 of development. However, due to the advantages it offers, it is becoming more and more common to biopsy embryos at day 5 or blastocyst stage.
