Ultrasound is a diagnostic test that is not dangerous for either the pregnant woman or the foetus. Ultrasound can be used to evaluate foetal development and to diagnose possible malformations.
However, even though no abnormalities can be seen on ultrasound, this does not mean that the foetus does not have any anomalies. Some of them cannot be seen through an ultrasound test.
