Egg donation in Cyprus, how does it work there?

    Hello,

I live in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus and I’m trying to conceive, but I can’t because I’ve been diagnosed with declining ovarian reserve, so I have no choice but to use donor eggs. The thing is, I’ve asked my sister to be my donor, and she’d love to do so, of course, but we are not sure policies governing this fertility treatment there will make it so easy as we think it is. As your webpage is specialized in this country, would you kindly give us some advice?

    TIA

    Xx

  2. Dear megan,

I’m afraid the answer to you enquiry is clear: your sister cannot be your egg donor. According to Cypriot human assisted reproductive technology act (69 (I)/2015 Act), gamete donation (i.e. egg and sperm donation) must be anonymous.

This means the patient can neither meet the donor nor get identifiable information about her.

    Hope this helps
