Necrozoospermia or necrospermia is a semen alteration caused by a high percentage of dead sperm in the ejaculate. Specifically, and taking into account the 2010 World Health Organization (WHO) criteria, a man is diagnosed with necrozoospermia when his ejaculate contains more than 58% dead sperm.
Therefore, necrozoospermia is considered a cause of male sperm factor infertility. If there are not enough live sperm, the egg will not be fertilized and, therefore, pregnancy will not be achieved.
