What is polar corpuscle biopsy?

Polar corpuscle biopsy is a technique that consists of making a hole in the zona pellucida of the ovule to extract its polar corpuscle before fertilization occurs. Thanks to this method, it is possible to know the genetic information of the oocyte. In this way, the embryos that come from ovules without genetic alterations will be transferred.

This polar body biopsy is recommended in elderly women, especially those over 38 years of age. In addition, the technique is also indicated in women with low ovarian reserve regardless of age.
