There are several reasons that can cause embryos not to implant correctly in the uterus. Among the possible causes we can differentiate between these two types:
- Uterine causes
- either by the presence of polyps or infections in the endometrium.
- Systemic causes
- generate alterations in systems other than the reproductive system. This is the case of thrombophilias or disorders of the immune system.
The main reason why systemic causes affect the implantation of the embryo in the uterus is not well known, although different diagnostic studies are being investigated to improve the whole process.
