With donor sperm, the pregnancy success rates improve as compared to partner-donated sperm, especially in IUI cycles. The patient’s age is a major factor, as the rate drops in women aged 40 or above. In fact, many fertility clinics do not indicate this treatment at this age.
Even though the chances for a multiple pregnancy is being reduced eventually thanks to mild ovarian stimulation protocols, it is still possible for 3 oocytes to maturate, in which case the woman would be at risk for a multiple pregnancy is the cycle is not cancelled.
