At the end of the second week or the beginning of the third week, ovulation occurs. This is the moment when the egg is released and is the day of greatest female fertility.
If sexual intercourse takes place, it is possible for pregnancy to occur. The sperm will travel a long way to reach the fallopian tubes where the egg will be found. Only one sperm, the fastest, will be able to reach the egg and fertilize it. From here embryonic development would begin.
