Non-invasive prenatal tests are quite safe, since it is not necessary to penetrate inside the uterine cavity. This results in a reduced risk of miscarriage and infection.
In addition, another advantage of non-invasive prenatal testing or NIPT is that it is performed in the first trimester of gestation. Thus, in the event that the NIPT result is altered, the pregnancy can be terminated voluntarily.
