Hysteroscopy for fertility

Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic test used to check a woman's fertility.

It involves analyzing directly the womb to look for the presence of abnormalities, including myomas, polyps, lesions of the endometrium, etc., which cannot be seen by conventional tests such as pelvic ultrasound or hysterosalpingography.

This test, which can be done at the doctor's office, consists in inserting a hysteroscope through the vagina to be able to see the uterine cavity. A hysteroscope is simply a thin viewing tool.

By MD (gynecologist), BSc, MSc (embryologist) and BA, MA (fertility counselor).
