Hello doctor, this is my 2nd failed donor-egg IVF cycle but I won’t give up on my intend to have children… I feel capable of achieving it, but I’m afraid I cannot afford myself another donor cycle…. I’ve heard adopting embryos is way cheaper, so I think I’ll give them a try… do you know what’s the cost more or less?

  2. Hello,

I am sorry about your 2 failed attempts, sending you lots of strength for your next cycle!

As for embryo adoption, the answer is yes: it is more affordable than egg donation, but it depends on the fertility center and varies from country to country. This reduced cost is because they are the unused embryos of persons or couples who’ve already achieved pregnancy but did not use all the embryos they created. When they underwent IVF, they were the ones carrying the expenses derived from the cycle, and that’s why using donated embryos is cheaper. The expenses you will have are related to endometrial preparation, embryo thawing, and embryo transfer.

    I hope this helps,

    Best wishes
