Depending on whether a woman has one or both fallopian tubes affected by hydrosalpinx, the treatment for getting pregnant will be different:
- Unilateral hydrosalpinx
- it is possible to attempt natural pregnancy or artificial insemination if all requirements are met by both partners.
- Bilateral hydrosalpinx
- in vitro fertilization must be used, since the tubes are not permeable and natural fertilization cannot occur.
In both cases, it is essential to make a previous intervention to remove or block the tubes affected by hydrosalpinx, as the accumulated fluid can flow into the uterus and prevent embryo implantation.
