Follicular puncture to retrieve mature egg cells

Mature egg cells are retrieved from the intended mother via a surgical procedure called follicular puncture. This surgical procedure involves puncturing the ovarian follicles (hence the name) to aspirate the follicular fluid, where the mature eggs are contained.
