Female egg count by age

Female egg count decreases as the woman ages, and nothing can be done to prevent that. From age 16 until the woman reaches her 30s, her ovarian reserve is high, but starts to diminish slightly from age 30 and significantly from 35-38 onwards, being the 40s the boundary between reproductive life and menopause. Moreover, the older the woman is, the reduced the egg quality and quantity. This is the reason why advanced maternal age is one of the most common causes of infertility nowadays.
