What is early menopause?

When ovaries stop working before age 40, i.e. before menopause, there might be a case of premature ovarian failure (POF). There is also a failure when there is a lack of response of the ovarian follicles to the stimulation of the gonadotropins.

Women are born with an ovarian supply that covers her needs for nearly 50 years. The early or fast depletion leads to sterility and, given the low blood estrogen levels, the typical symptoms of menopause are suffocations, insomnia, decreased sex drive, irritability, etc.
