Polyhydramnios: excess of amniotic fluid
In pregnancies where there exist an excess of amniotic fluid or polyhydramnios, a specific follow-up may become necessary in order to avoid a very preterm birth.
Medical Control during Pregnancy
Regular medical care during pregnancy is essential in order to study the presence of fetal alterations. Ultrasound scans and analyses of certain proteins in the mother are the most common ways of doing so.
Pregnancy month by month
During pregnancy, women experience many physical and emotional changes which vary during late pregnancy until the moment of labour.
21 weeks pregnant
During week 21 you won’t feel the typical discomforts of the first months, you’ll feel better. It’s a good moment to do some moderate exercise in order to avoid the fluid retention.
20 weeks pregnant
It’s the last week of the fifth month of pregnancy, in this moment you’ve reached half of the pregnancy and the belly is rounded and big. However, you can still move freely.
4D ultrasound is the cutting-edge procedure in ultrasound scanning. It is similar to a 3D ultrasound, but shows the real-time movements of the baby.
This fluid surrounds the embryo throughout pregnancy, and its main function is to protect the foetus and to cushion the mother's movements so that they cannot be harmful for the foetus.
