A kick in the testicles, be it accidental or on purpose, is one of the most painful experiences for a man.

However, from a medical point of view, there’s little chance that his normal production and quality of spermatozoa can be affected in any way. Therefore, it could be affirmed that this fact is not one of the main causes of sterility in men, since, after a short period of time, the alteration that may have been provoked by the kick, returns to normality.

Causes of reproductive problems in men

Nevertheless, truth be told, there have been cases of male sterility due to an extremely strong hit in the testicles. The highest damage is to prepubescent children that still haven’t begun the spermatozoa production. But the number of infertility due to this cause is significantly low, and hence highly unlikely.

Causes of infertility in men

It’s been proved that 40% of the cases of infertility in a couple may be related with the man, be it due to a scarce number of spermatozoa or to its low motility.

The main causes that provoke infertility in men are:

    • Hormonal disorders: malfunctions of the hormonal regulation system, which are responsible for approximately 10% of the cases of infertility.
    • Failure of the testicle in spermatogenesis: it’s the most common, causing 55% of the infertility problems in men (hereditary illnesses, varicocele, viral or bacterial infections, traumas that affect the vasa deferentia, exposition to excessive heat and radiation).
    • Problems when ejaculating: constitute approximately 10% of the infertility problems in men.

Facing male reproductive problems with optimism

    Positive attitude towards infertility

The best choice of treatment is carried out when the evaluations of the two members of the couple are carried out in a comprehensively and coordinatedly. This way, all the infertility causes can be treated at the same time, apart from offering the couple the opportunity of taking part in the process of choosing among the different treatments, along with the doctor.

Currently, infertile men count on a wide range of options. Information and advice are crucial for the comprehensive evaluation about male infertility.

Beginning a fertility treatment may be hard for the couple, that’s why a good communication between the members is vital, as well as expressing the feelings that will arise during the treatment.
