Anorchia is a medical term that refers to the absence of one or both testes in the male. The reason for the absence of male gonads is unknown. In addition, males diagnosed with anorchia will have a normal karyotype, i.e., 46, XY.

However, males with gonadal absence will have low or even no testosterone levels and elevated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) concentrations.
Generally, treatment for anorchia consists of exogenous administration of androgens and testicular prosthesis insertion.
