Michelle Emblenton, biochemist at inviTRA,talks about how genetic matching with an egg donor is performed:
Well, nowadays more and more clinics are offering to do a genetic compatibility test. This test checks whether the donor and the male sperm provider are genetically compatible. This means that an analysis is done at the genetic level to make sure there are no mutations that are possessed on both sides that could lead to the child being affected by a hereditary genetic disease. In the event that this genetic analysis shows that the the egg donor is not compatible genetically with the sperm provider, a new donor will be looked for.
