What foods are not recommended during pregnancy?

Among these contaminations are Salmonella, Listeria or Toxoplasmosis. It is also important not to consume fish that may contain high mercury content, such as swordfish, bluefin tuna or pike fish. Likewise, it is not advisable to eat any raw fish, such as sushi, sahimi, ceviche, carpaccio or raw shellfish such as mussels, oysters or clams.

On the other hand, it is very important to avoid eating raw eggs as in sauces, homemade mayonnaise or desserts. Continuing with the intake of raw foods, special care should be taken with cheeses if they have been made from raw milk, i.e., unpasteurized. Milk is essential during pregnancy, but you should drink pasteurized milk, as well as yogurt, cream or ice cream.

You should also avoid eating prepared foods, such as sandwiches, snacks or any other type of food containing vegetables, eggs, meat, cold cuts or fish.

Fruits, vegetables or raw vegetables should always be washed with bleach water suitable for disinfection, you should put 4 drops per liter of water. Immerse the food for 10 minutes and then rinse them with plenty of drinking water.

Beef, pork, chicken, sheep, whether in fillets, minced meat, sausages and the like, should be well cooked. In order to know what is its point, you should check that there are no uncooked or fatty parts when cut. This is important to avoid contracting Toxoplasmosis, a very rare disease, but if you catch it during pregnancy it can be serious for the baby.

Although one of the foods that has generated most doubts over the years has been Serrano ham. A pregnant woman can eat it as long as it has been frozen for 2 or more days.
