If you have had a semen analysis and the results come back as of normal, your fertility specialist may order some hormonal tests. From a blood draw, they will then test the levels of the specific male sex hormones to see if there are any alterations present here. The production of sperm is tightly controlled by the male sex hormones, including testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone and lutenizing hormone. The interaction and the levels of these hormones directly affect sperm production, so it is important to study these.
