Polyhydramnios is an excessive amount of amniotic fluid in the amniotic sac, which occurs in about 1-2% of pregnancies.
For the diagnosis of polyhydramnios, the specialist calculates by ultrasound the Amniotic Fluid Index (ALI), which must be equal to or greater than 25 to establish the diagnosis.
