Functions of amniotic fluid

Amniotic fluid is a yellowish-colored fluid that surrounds the baby during pregnancy inside the mother's uterus. However, this fluid has other important functions in addition to protecting the baby and cushioning movement.

Among these functions of the amniotic fluid are to maintain a constant temperature, to allow fetal movement for proper bone and muscle development and to assist in lung development.
