If a woman uses the basal temperature method to try to estimate her fertile days, she should be aware that there are certain factors that can alter the basal temperature. These include the following:
- Illness and/or fever.
- Lack of rest.
- Stress.
- Alcohol.
- Some medications.
Therefore, a woman may observe variations in her basal temperature that are not related to ovulation and, in order to distinguish between them when interpreting the basal temperature graph, she should note any factors that may have affected her temperature.
