Should I use my frozen embryos or repeat the whole IVF cycle?

By Michelle Lorraine Embleton B.Sc. Ph.D. (biochemist).
Last Update: 10/10/2022

Michelle Lorraine Embleton, biochemist at inviTRA, talks in this video about the possilbilities of repeating the entire IVF cycle or using frozen embryos, in future IVF cycles. As Michelle explains:

The success rates of undergoing a second IVF or using your frozen embryos are more or less the same. A second round of IVF would mean repeating the ovarian stimulation, follicular puncure and the in vitro fertilization step, before the procedure of embryo transfrer. In contrast, if you use your frozen embryos, these steps would not have to be repeated, only the thawing of the embryos.
With the advancement of vitrification techniques, the thawed embryos are of comparable quality to the fresh ones obtained directly after ferilitzation. The advantages of using your frozen embyryos is therefore one of convenience and it is less expensive.
