High hCG levels 12 days after embryo transfer

I am 33 years old and diagnosed with infertility. I had one ectopic pregnancy two years ago. I just did my first IVF cycle and transferred one embryo. It was a day 5 blastocyst. I just had my first HCG beta done 12 days after transfer and it is 203. Is it normal for the level to be this high or is it possible that I am carrying twins?

Yes, it is possible that you’re carrying twins, but you should wait until your first ultrasound scant to confirm if it’s a singleton or a multiple pregnancy. 203 mIU/ml is a high result 12 days after embryo transfer, but not so high. There are cases of multiple pregnancy that reach values close to 600 mIU/ml within 14 days after embryo transfer.
