Some women are at risk before they become pregnant due to some previous pathology. For example, women who suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure will have a pregnancy classified as risky.
Similarly, women who become pregnant and have kidney problems, infections, uterine malformations or epilepsy will also have an at-risk pregnancy.
Finally, a gestational complication, such as placenta previa, may cause the pregnancy to be considered high-risk.
