In the case of a twin pregnancy, the woman should gain considerably more weight than in a singleton pregnancy. However, the recommended weight gain is variable depending on the woman's body mass index (BMI) before pregnancy.
If the woman was at an adequate pre-pregnancy weight (BMI 18.5-24.9), she should gain 16.8 to 24.5 kilograms in a twin pregnancy.
