Sperm donation is governed by the Spanish Law 14/2006 of Assisted Reproduction Techniques. This law establishes that the donation of gametes is a totally charitable, voluntary, altruistic and anonymous act. Therefore, it is illegal to receive money for the donation.
However, it is possible to receive financial compensation for the inconvenciences caused during the process of donation, such as time taken. This amount is regulated so as to avoid any comercial interference.
