What is hysterometry?

By (psychologist).
Last Update: 02/23/2022

Hysterometry is a gynecological technique that allows knowing the length of the uterus using a hysterometer.

The length of the uterus shortens during pregnancy. If this happens too early, there will be an increased risk of preterm labor. Also, the sooner preterm labor occurs, the worse it is for the baby's health.

Therefore, the specialist will perform a hysterometry if there are suspicions of premature labor, either due to regular contractions, constant back pain, changes in vaginal discharge, etc.
