Egg decumulation, also known as denudation, is a process performed in the assisted reproduction laboratory whereby the eggs are stripped of the surrounding cumulus cells.
This process takes place before fertilization when ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is used, but after fertilization when conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF) is performed.
