Male infertility, depending on what is causing it, can be classified into the following types:
- Pre-testicular or endocrine factors: the development and/or the testicular function are compromised due to hormonal irregularities.
- Testicular factors: direct damage to the testes.
- Post-testicular factors: alterations in the seminal vesicles, which are responsible for the exit of spermatozoa from the testes.
- Sperm-related factors: abnormalities of the sperm that affect sperm quality directly.
