How much information about the donor and the details of the donation is given will depend on the country in which the gamete or embryo donation is carried out.
For example, in the United Kingdom, donors have to write a personal description of themselves and a goodwill message that will be read by future offspring once they turn 18. It helps children learn more about their donor as a person.
