Lepidium meyenii, known as maca root or Peruvian ginseng, is an herbaceous plant that is native to South America in the high Andes mountains of Peru and Bolivia. Maca can be taken in different forms. On the one hand, there exist pills of maca root that can be administered as dietary supplement. On the other hand, it can be taken in the form of powder or as organic maca tea.
It is considered one of the world's natural “superfoods", and has multiple benefits for health, especially for male fertility. For this reason, it is commonly used as a natural remedy to improve sperm quality.
