Consequences of the Zika virus on fetal development

In the Zika virus disease is transmitted during pregnancy, specially on early pregnancy, there is a high risk that the baby develops a fetal malformation.

Although its direct relationship has not been proved to date, suspicion is based on the increase on the number of infants born with microcephaly and the further spread of the Zika virus lately.
