Hello ladies, greetings from Canada. I’ve a question: could a 47-year-old woman with menopause become a surrogate mother – no period has shown up for a year? TIA for your reply

  2. Dear Matilda,

Being on menopause means that your ovaries don’t contain eggs anymore, and therefore achieving a natural pregnancy is not possible. However, the possibility of bearing a pregnancy does not end with menopause, since hormone medications can replace the required hormones so that the uterus reaches its adequate state, that is, the womb becomes ready for the implantation of the embryos created in the laboratory from the eggs and sperms of the intended parents or donors. Where implantation occurs, pregnancy can be achieved.

To sum up, even if you are on menopause, you could become a surrogate mother in a surrogacy process, as long as you meet the rest of requirements established to become so.

I hope I have been able to help,

    Regards
