Foetal development at 12 weeks

By 12 weeks of pregnancy, the foetus is fully formed and its systems are beginning to function. Its face is already very similar to that of a baby, with a rounded face and the eyes and ears in their final position. In addition, it can now open and close its mouth and even make the swallowing movement.

The development of the foetus at this time is centred on the genitals, which are not yet formed, but internally there are differences between the male and female foetus.
