Amniocentesis is an invasive prenatal test that involves collecting amniotic fluid from the pregnant woman's abdomen using a needle. After analyzing the amniotic fluid, it is possible to determine whether the fetus has any genetic abnormalities.
This prenatal test is recommended during the second trimester of pregnancy, around weeks 15-20 of gestation. Therefore, amniocentesis is a test indicated in week 17 of pregnancy.
