Some women have their first gestational check-up in the second month of pregnancy. However, other women do not find out they are pregnant until week 8, so they will have their first check-up in the third month of pregnancy.
This check-up consists of taking measurements of the pregnant woman's weight and blood pressure. In addition, the doctor will order blood and urine tests and perform an ultrasound scan. This ultrasound will confirm the pregnancy after visualising the gestational sac and listening to the heartbeat.
In the third month of pregnancy, the triple screening of the first trimester will also be carried out, where the nuchal translucency, beta hCG and PAPP-A will be evaluated.
