When a woman is 12 weeks pregnant, the fetus is fully formed, with all systems working. The face is similar to that of a newborn, with a rounded face that has eyes and ears adequately positioned. Moreover, he or she is able to open and shut the mouth, or even swallow.
Genitalia develop at this stage, although they will not form completely. Distinguishing between male or female is not possible, though.
