Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by damage to joints. What happens is that the synovial membrane, the tissue which covers the interior of joints preventing friction, becomes excessively inflamed.
There is no cure for this disease, although many therapeutic options exist to improve the patient´s quality of life. Most importantly, women with RA can become pregnant without any problems, as long as they follow the advice of their physician.
