Women with congenital adrenal hyperplasia or CAH often present with hirsutism as a consequence of increased androgen levels. In addition, these patients are also associated with polycystic ovaries and irregular menstrual cycles. All this makes it more difficult for women with adrenal hyperplasia to become pregnant.
In contrast, the fertility of men with this disease is not as affected, unless there are nodules in the testicles.
