There is often doubt about whether cycling, due to the particular characteristics of this sport compared to others, can affect semen quality.
Riding a bike could increase the temperature in the scrotal area, especially because of the tight clothing often worn while cycling. This overheating of the testicular region is harmful to spermatogenesis (sperm production), as this process occurs optimally at a temperature about 2 degrees lower than the body temperature.
Additionally, the impact with the saddle is not beneficial either, and the pressure on the blood vessels and nerves in the scrotal area could lead to problems such as erectile dysfunction.
