Numerous women and couples (either homosexual or heterosexual) need to use donor eggs when undergoing a fertility treatment such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) since they cannot resort to their own eggs.
In the US, egg donation is regulated by law. However, each state is free to establish the requirements that any potential donor must meet in order to be selected as an egg donor.
