In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a fertility procedure i9n which the sperm–oocyte fusion does not take place within the female reproductive system, but in a laboratory. Later, the resulting embryos are transferred to the maternal uterus, waiting for them to attach, thereby leading to pregnancy.
