When an embryo biopsy is performed and the cells are sent for genetic analysis, the possible results may be:
- Genetically healthy embryos, which would be euploid embryos. These embryos are the ones that can be transferred.
- Genetically abnormal embryos or aneuploid embryos. In this case, the embryos are discarded and are not transferred to the maternal uterus.
Sometimes, it is also possible to obtain mosaic embryos or non-informative embryos after preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
