Spare embryos

The law governing human assisted reproduction in Cyprus limits the amount of embryos to transfer to 2 in women under 39 years of age, and to 3 in older women.

Keeping in mind that ovulation is triggered for IVF treatment in order to obtain a greater number of embryos, it is only logical to think that there will be a percentage of unused embryos after finishing the treatment.

Patients will be asked to decide what fate they want for these embryos—freezing them for own use, donating them to other couples, donating them for research, or destroying them.
